Ruby Tuesday

This is the flower of August for me...

a beautiful red hollyhock.  I think my granddaughter was the artist behind the camera in her auntie's garden last week.

If you have more red to share, or just want to see some great photos, visit Mary T right here for Ruby Tuesday.

It's so pretty, and, yes, it's red. Nice photography!

Wow that is stunning!!! We dug up some that were growing wild and put them in our yard a few years ago, but they must only last one summer and they didn't re-seed.

Erect against the garden wall
they grow, the tallest flower of all
Like grand mamas they seem to know
the reason why strange things are so.

Oh, my! That hollyhock is a dazzler!

ENAMORED OF RED

Enamored of red
I lie in my bed,
Dreaming of cherry-filled crèmes;

For red is the shade,
The prettiest made,
That gives me the sweetest of dreams.

How beautiful a flower! The red is magnificent, and the detailing of the petals amazing. The tiny ribs are great, almost looking like spokes on a ruby bicycle wheel. Very nice!

So pretty. Every year, I tell myself to plant hollyhocks and every year, I forget. Duhh.
